Locally sourced quality produce
Our Seafood is all within a 15 mile radius, caught locally, Loch Nevis, Loch Nan Uamh, Sound of Sleat, Isle of Skye, Rum waters. Scallops are always hand dived fresh that day usually from Loch Nevis or Arisiag and our local diver brings them into the bar still pulsing. Langoustines are creel caught of the local fishing boats, cooked and eaten that night.
Vegetables come from Williamsons in Inverness who offer consistently good produce and an excellent variety of seasonal vegetables, when we cannot source from closer to home. Our fresh herbs are grown in the pub polytunnel out back! Our meat comes from John MacMillan the butcher is Fort William. Luxury cooking items are sourced on occasion from Letterfinlay also in Fort Willliam. This year we have taken a plot in the newly formed market garden so it will be exciting to see what produce we can successfully harvest!
Fresh raspberries and berries, chanterelles and wild wood sorrel are foraged for on a daily basis in season and are regular features on the menu. Nothing like a good forage to work up an item, happy to explain wood sorrel (sourocks) from sheep sorrel with anyone who asks but the only secret we keep is our fungi spots!
Our Real ale comes from Glenfinnan Brewery and Isle of Skye Breweries as well as national breweries when the limited micro brewery supplies are not available or the Skye ferry is not operating on schedule.
It is our desire to promote fresh local produce and to maintain reduced food mileage wherever possible and so naturally our menu changes daily to reflect what has come in from the loch, hill or forest.
